{"id":20477,"date":"2025-06-28T00:52:17","date_gmt":"2025-06-28T00:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/20477\/"},"modified":"2025-06-28T00:52:17","modified_gmt":"2025-06-28T00:52:17","slug":"fired-adams-campaign-vendor-charged-with-soho-assault-had-attended-exclusive-fundraiser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/20477\/","title":{"rendered":"Fired Adams campaign vendor charged with SoHo assault had attended exclusive fundraiser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trent Pool, a conservative political consultant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/03\/us\/politics\/rfk-jr-operative-assault.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accused of assaulting his girlfriend in a Manhattan hotel,<\/a> donated the legal max amount to Mayor Adams\u2019 reelection effort as part of a fundraiser last year \u2014 and was months later hired by the campaign to do petitioning work, the Daily News has learned.<\/p>\n<p>The fundraiser itself may also have violated campaign finance rules as Adams\u2019 team failed to disclose cryptocurrency tycoon Brock Pierce\u2019s role in hosting the event.<\/p>\n<p>Pool, who\u2019s known for managing petitioning for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.\u2019s failed 2024 presidential campaign, was arrested in April 2024 on charges alleging he strangled his partner at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/aclk?sa=l&amp;ai=DChsSEwiZ76zR-pGOAxWkTn8AHdlnJRQYACICCAEQBBoCb2E&amp;co=1&amp;ase=2&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjwgvnCBhCqARIsADBLZoLDHegsLnUWPWcIBJqdcn-CM9-5TxqC5-S94nBTUejFuCoInA7FBa0aAmxeEALw_wcB&amp;category=acrcp_v1_53&amp;sig=AOD64_2ttjToqp55JUyUgcOW0i-N31v-0w&amp;q&amp;nis=4&amp;adurl&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjhmajR-pGOAxVzm2oFHRGmFhYQ0Qx6BAgeEAQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SoHo Grand Hotel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/gothamist.com\/news\/mayor-adams-hired-campaign-consultant-accused-of-strangling-girlfriend-in-soho-hotel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported by Gothamist<\/a> this week, Adams\u2019 campaign paid Pool some $175,000 this spring to do petitioning work to secure an independent line for the mayor on November\u2019s general election ballot.<\/p>\n<p>Pool\u2019s hire came as he was in the middle of fighting his assault case \u2014 which remains pending in Manhattan Criminal Court \u2014 and Adams\u2019 campaign responded to Gothamist\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/gothamist.com\/news\/mayor-adams-hired-campaign-consultant-accused-of-strangling-girlfriend-in-soho-hotel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> by saying it\u2019d cut ties with Pool, adding that the mayor was unaware of the charges against him and \u201chas never had contact with\u201d him.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"The SoHo Grand Hotel in Manhattan. (Shutterstock)<\/p>\n<p>Records obtained by The News via a Freedom of Information Law request nonetheless reveal that months before being hired, Pool contributed $2,100, the legal max, to Adams\u2019 reelection campaign as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/12\/10\/puerto-rico-eric-adams-fundraising-campaign-00193549\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an exclusive fundraiser in Puerto Rico<\/a> attended by the mayor.<\/p>\n<p>The Dec. 10, 2024 fundraiser, hosted at Pierce\u2019s San Juan mansion, raised a total of $13,404 from nine individuals, including Pool, the records show. As required, the records were submitted to the city Campaign Finance Board by Adams\u2019 team to disclose all fundraiser attendees who gave in connection with the event.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Kenniff, Pool\u2019s criminal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raiserandkenniff.com\/about-us\/thomas-a-kenniff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawyer<\/a>, declined to comment Friday on his client\u2019s participation in the fundraiser, but said he \u201chas supported and donated to Eric Adams, along with many other common sense candidates nationwide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs to his pending criminal charges, Mr. Pool maintains his innocence and looks forward to being fully exonerated,\u201d Keniff added.<\/p>\n<p>Pool\u2019s case is slated to go to trial next month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMayor Adams has no recollection of ever meeting Trent Pool in any setting, but the campaign sometimes acts independently on hiring independent contractors,\u201d an Adams campaign spokesman said when asked about his interactions with Trent and reliance on his services.<\/p>\n<p>Pierce, a pro-Trump investor and billionaire, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/12\/10\/puerto-rico-eric-adams-fundraising-campaign-00193549\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">threw the fundraiser<\/a> for Adams while the mayor was on the island for a cryptocurrency conference. The private event came as Adams was still under indictment on federal corruption charges that were months later dismissed at the request of President Trump\u2019s Department of Justice as part of a deal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/04\/02\/eric-adams-isnt-facing-criminal-charges-but-the-specter-of-trump-is-likely-to-haunt-his-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">many believe has left the mayor beholden to Trump\u2019s agenda<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Given that Pierce\u2019s event raised more than $500, Adams\u2019 team under campaign finance law was required to either report Pierce as a so-called \u201cintermediary\u201d or pay him for hosting the shindig. However, Adams\u2019 campaign didn\u2019t report Pierce as an intermediary and there is no record it paid Pierce for hosting, records show.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"Brock Pierce at Mar-a-Lago on Feb. 4, 2025 in Florida.
