Low-level moisture returned to Texas on Friday, along with high clouds from remnants of Lorena, setting the stage for a cloudy, cool-ish, and sometimes rainy weekend. Saturday highs will be somewhat cooler in the 80s and morning lows in the 60s. South Texas remains in the moist heat with highs in the upper 90s and lows in the upper 70s. Increasing rain chances are expected Saturday for most regions with the highest rain chances Sunday and Monday.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0New Texas laws ban youth cabins in floodways, require camp safety plans<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Gov. Greg Abbott held a bill signing ceremony on Friday with legislative leaders and some of the Camp Mystic parents.<\/p>\n

<\/b>The measures aim to improve the safety of children\u2019s camps by prohibiting cabins in dangerous parts of flood zones and requiring camp operators to develop detailed emergency plans, train workers and install and maintain emergency warning systems. One allocates $240 million from the state\u2019s rainy day fund for disaster relief, along with money for warning sirens and improved weather forecasting..<\/p>\n

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, the four-term Republican incumbent, knows he\u2019s in a dogfight in his primary battle with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.<\/p>\n
