New York City\u2019s beaches and outdoor pools will close for the season after Sunday.<\/p>\n

But summer at these actual watering holes may go out with a bang \u2014 and a flash \u2014 as thunderstorms are expected to roll into the area this weekend.<\/p>\n

According to the National Weather Service, a cold front<\/a> will move across the region Saturday, bringing some turbulent climes.<\/p>\n

\u201dWe could be looking at strong gusty winds, heavy rainfall, lightning,\u201d meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki said. \u201cIf you hear thunder, get indoors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The storms will most likely hit Saturday afternoon into the overnight hours, tapering off Sunday morning and leaving cooler air behind, according to the forecast. High temperatures Saturday are expected to hover around 80 degrees, but they\u2019ll fall into the mid-70s Sunday.<\/p>\n

Even if the skies prove clear this weekend, Ciemnecki said beachgoers should beware of a moderate rip current risk, following a high risk Friday<\/a>.<\/p>\n
