Gaza\u2019s Nasser Hospital<\/a> became a death trap for rescue workers, journalists and others last week when Israeli forces targeted it\u00a0in an attack that has galvanised global anger. Associated Press\u00a0reporting raises serious questions\u00a0about Israel\u2019s rationale<\/a> for the attack and the way it was carried out.<\/p>\n Israel has promised to investigate \u201cgaps\u201d in its understanding of the attack, which killed 22 people in a succession of tank strikes, including five journalists, among them\u00a0Mariam Dagga, who worked for AP and other news organisations.<\/p>\n The AP\u2019s analysis is based on information from current and former Israeli military officials, other officials and weapons analysts, and accounts from nearly 20 people who were in or near the hospital at the time of the strikes.<\/p>\n Here are some takeaways:<\/p>\n The significance of a towel<\/strong><\/p>\n The military struck a hospital well known as a journalists\u2019 gathering point.
