But for residents and drivers in the Farmingdale area, the international event will also bring a wave of road closures that could make getting around more difficult in the days ahead.

Local driver Luis Tejada summed up the sentiment felt by many in the community.

“It will probably be a little bit of an inconvenience,” he said.

Indeed, several major roads near Bethpage State Park will be affected — some even before the first round of golf begins.

Key Road Closures:

Round Swamp Road (between Winding Road and Quaker Meeting House Road) will be closed on:

Quaker Meeting House Road will close daily from Sept. 22 through Sept. 29, between 4:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Clubhouse Road, accessible from Bethpage State Parkway, will only be open to rideshare vehicles starting Sept. 23, from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily

These restrictions are part of the large-scale preparations for the event, which includes over 1.7 million square feet of infrastructure.

“We’ve asked for specific times so we can bring a bunch of trucks in at once,” explained Ryder Cup operations manager Evan Crowder, who emphasized that the road closures are necessary to ensure a smooth operation while limiting disruption to locals.

“We work very closely with everybody in the surrounding neighborhood and we try to be as least impactful on their day-to-day lives as possible,” Crowder added.

Beth Mignone, of the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce, acknowledged the challenges but sees an upside.

“It’s definitely going to be inconvenient for people, but it’s a pretty prestigious event for them to bring to our town. Hopefully it will bring some business to Main Street,” says Mignone.

Transportation Alternatives Available

For fans planning to attend the Ryder Cup, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will be increasing service to accommodate the influx of visitors.

Additional trains will run alongside regular daily service to ease travel to and from the event.

Excitement is building as the Ryder Cup, one of the world’s most prestigious golf tournaments, prepares to tee…

[47
31748,113126,113127,1430,39015,8656,62,67,132,68
0":"post-205417","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-golf","8":"tag-bethpage","9":"tag-bethpage-black-golf-course","10":"tag-farmingdale","11":"tag-golf","12":"tag-new-york-state-police","13":"tag-ryder-cup","14":"tag-sports","15":"tag-united-states","16":"tag-unitedstates","17":"tag-us
["GET
