\u201cReal Time\u201d host Bill Maher called Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. \u201cnutty\u201d on Thursday following the Trump Cabinet member\u2019s fiery Senate hearing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI personally find this very disappointing, because I am the person who was sympathetic to what [Kennedy] was trying to do,\u201d Maher said to his panel. \u201cI said, \u2018Finally, we have a guy in there who cares about this stuff.\u2019 But he\u2019s also just nutty.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kennedy is facing calls to resign from more than 1,000 current and former HHS employees. <\/p>\n

One week after he fired CDC Director Susan Monarez, the employees signed a letter Wednesday accusing Kennedy of appointing \u201cpolitical ideologues.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s just too nutty,\u201d Maher repeated. \u201cHe just does not listen. I mean, he just is. And nothing ever \u2013 I call it \u2018pendulumism\u2019 \u2013- nothing ever stops in the middle.\u201d<\/p>\n

The late-night host elaborated on his charge against the politician.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cOkay, this needed a housecleaning, the CDC. But to fire all 17 of the top people? Now you don\u2019t have that voice in there at all. You just have your voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher said that Kennedy was \u201cnutty\u201d following the HHS Secretary\u2019s Senate hearing. FOX News<\/p>\n

Maher concluded his criticism with one sentence, adding that it \u201cpains\u201d him to say it because he likes Kennedy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just \u2013 he\u2019s got to go,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

One of the panelists, CNN\u2019s chief White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins, went on to describe where Kennedy \u201cstumbled a lot\u201d as Republicans and Democrats questioned him<\/a> on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe CDC has canceled hundreds of millions of dollars in mRNA vaccine research that they were doing,\u201d Collins said. \u201cAnd so that is what the Republicans were putting to him, saying, \u2018Do you believe that Trump deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for this? And then do you also believe that was an mRNA vaccine that saved lives?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

This disconnect puts Kennedy \u201cat odds\u201d with Trump, Collins argued.<\/p>\n

However, she added that he is about as \u201csafe as he can get\u201d in his job, unless President Donald Trump has a change of heart, as many Senate Republicans voted to confirm him as HHS secretary.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Collins\u2019 fellow panelist and former Trump campaign economic advisor, Stephen Moore, defended Kennedy\u2019s advocacy against certain FDA regulations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen new drugs are being developed, we should let these drugs go to the market, especially if they\u2019re dealing with cancer or heart disease or multiple sclerosis,\u201d Moore argued. \u201cThe FDA holds these things up by five to 10 years, and it\u2019s actually killing people.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cReal Time\u201d host Bill Maher called Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F.
