It is the third\/fourth time Texas sold the Powerball jackpot.<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen Powerball players won a million-dollar payout after matching all five white balls during the massive drawing.<\/p>\n<p>The winners are from\u00a0California (2), Colorado, Florida, Illinois (2), Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York (2), Ohio (2), Oregon, Texas (2) and West Virginia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Players from Kansas and Texas also matched all five white balls, but opted for the power play option, which doubled their prize to $2 million.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The transformational wins claim the second-largest jackpot in the game\u2019s history,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/10\/12\/powerball-jackpot-winning-ticket-sold-worth-1-76-billion-numbers-revealed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">surpassing the $1.765 billion prize<\/a>\u00a0that California man Theodorus Struyck and his group claimed in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The then 65-year-old resident of Frazier Park, a mountain town 73 miles north of Los Angeles,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/03\/16\/us-news\/powerball-1-765-billion-jackpot-winner-theodorus-struyck-revealed-in-california\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chose the lump sum payment<\/a>\u00a0of $744 million before taxes.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday\u2019s win broke the 2025 jackpot record, smashing the previous mark of $526.5 million, which was awarded to a ticketholder in California during a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/03\/30\/us-news\/powerball-jackpot-winning-ticket-sold-in-california-results-drawing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">March 29 drawing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Odds of winning the Powerball grand prize are an astronomical 1 in 292.2 million. Meaning there are better chances of becoming President of the United States (1 in 32.6 million) than striking rich with the Florida-based lottery.<\/p>\n<p>The three-month run of grand prizeless drawings had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/02\/us-news\/powerball-player-misses-1-2b-jackpot-by-just-one-number\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">produced multiple new millionaires<\/a>\u00a0who managed to match all five white balls but never cashed in on the elusive red Powerball.<\/p>\n<p>The unidentified ticket holders have between 90 days and up to a year to claim the prize, depending on the state where the ticket was sold.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday night\u2019s win was the first time the Jackpot grand prize was won since a ticket worth $204.5 million was sold in California on May 31.<\/p>\n<p>That grand prize has yet to be claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Californian Edwin Castro still holds the title for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/02\/us-news\/edwin-castro-will-keep-2-04-billion-winnings-as-calif-judge-tosses-powerball-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the largest Powerball win in history,<\/a>\u00a0winning the $2.04 billion pool on Nov. 7, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>He chose the $997.6 million payout.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Twice as nice!
