Federal Agents were spotted chasing people Friday after raiding a car wash near Pacific Coast Highway in Wilmington.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Witnesses said they saw people being pursued by federal officers through the streets near PCH, with at least one woman getting away with the help of a member of the public.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cShe got in the car with someone she didn\u2019t know, obviously trying to help her out,\u201d said Javier Salazer, a witness in the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It\u2019s unclear how many people were detained, but video captured at least one person who was caught after falling over in an attempt to escape federal agents.\u00a0<\/p>\n
One witness said he saw what appeared to be nine federal officers descending on the area.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
LA County commissioner Janice Hahn slammed the immigration raid, labeling it as a way for federal agents to \u201cspread fear and propaganda\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThis morning masked ICE agents sent by our own federal government descended on Wilmington, where people were going about their Friday morning and chased people down and spread fear and propaganda,\u201d said Hahn. \u201cFamilies are being robbed of breadwinners, businesses of workers and customers, and our communities are being left afraid and silenced.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
