The information the city provided to win passage of a ballot measure in 2022 allowing this fee was incompetently inaccurate. The cost is far higher than what voters were told, which enabled the measure to squeak by.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Gavin Newsom\u2019s Proposition 50 this November means we already will have a citywide election, so the cost to add another question is much less than a standalone proposition would have been.<\/p>\n<p>The San Diego City Council should do the right thing and put the question about this fee before the voters again, this time with the actual costs presented.<\/p>\n<p>I challenge the City Council to make up for past mistakes and let the voters make an informed decision.
