President Trump on Sunday arrived at the US\u00a0\u200bOpen<\/a> in Queens to watch the men\u2019s tennis finals.<\/p>\n

The president strolled into a suite at Arthur Ashe Stadium before the men\u2019s singles championship match<\/a> was due to kick off at 2:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

He was greeted by cheers in the luxury seats around his box as he entered.<\/p>\n

Trump then emerged briefly to greet those in the stadium, waving and clapping, and was met by a mixed roar of cheers and boos.<\/p>\n

He was joined by several members of his administration, including US Attorney General Pam Bondi, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s appearance at the showdown between tennis aces Janik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz stirred up controversy even before he set foot in the stadium.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The United States Tennis Association had advised broadcasters not to televise any boos or cheers he might receive from the crowd, prompting critics to rip the move.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe ask all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President\u2019s attendance in any capacity, including ENG (Electronic News Gathering) coverage,\u201d the USTA advised.<\/p>\n

Trump was heavily booed at his last US Open appearance in 2015.<\/p>\n

The president\u2019s attendance at this year\u2019s final caused massive lines and backups as attendees were forced to wade through rigorous security screenings.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese lines are outrageous,\u201d said 27-year-old Dino Romeo, who traveled from California for the match and told The Post he was \u201cindifferent\u201d about the president\u2019s attendance.<\/p>\n

Another tennis fan said, \u201cI think it\u2019s an inconvenience to the fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

But her boyfriend was all for Trump\u2019s appearance.<\/p>\n
