One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a pair of separate hit-and-run crashes over the weekend in Philadelphia<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

The deadly collision happened just before 11:30 p.m. Friday at 57th and Chestnut streets in West Philadelphia<\/a>, according to police.<\/p>\n

Investigators said a driver inside a Ford Focus was traveling south on 57th with a steady green light when the operator of a black Ford Explorer blew through a red light while heading east on Chestnut.<\/p>\n

The driver of the Focus was ejected from their vehicle, and medics pronounced the person dead at the scene, authorities said. The PPD has not publicly identified the victim.\n<\/p>\n

On Sunday, just after 12:30 a.m., a driver hit a pedestrian at Trenton Street and Lehigh Avenue in Kensington<\/a> and fled the scene, law enforcement officials said.<\/p>\n

Police said the person was attempting to cross Lehigh at the time of the crash, and that the fleeing vehicle may have been a black Jeep Wrangler.\n<\/p>\n

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital with a fractured hip, injured leg, cuts and a head injury, according to the PPD. Authorities did not provide any additional details.\n<\/p>\n
