Each episode was guaranteed to feature a conniving scheme, a shocking betrayal, and some steamy-for-its-time smooching.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_5-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> While these intimate encounters may have been what the millions of dedicated viewers were most interested in, it was just business as usual for the cast \u2014 and also an opportunity to play some pranks.\n<\/p>\n<p> Linda Gray in a promotional image from &#8216;Dallas&#8217; in 1978.<\/p>\n<p>CBS via Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> While speaking on a recent episode of the <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/thats-classic\/id1533742435\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">That&#8217;s Classic<\/a> podcast, Gray, who played Sue Ellen Ewing during most of the initial 14-season run (and returned for two made-for-television movies and the more recent revival series), shed some light on filming the love scenes between the characters.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_10-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;Larry didn&#8217;t like intimate&#8230; he didn&#8217;t like the kissing scenes,&#8221; she said about Hagman, who played her onscreen spouse J.R. Ewing. &#8220;Not that he didn&#8217;t like them, but he just felt, you know, it was awkward.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_14-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> How did the actor, who also appeared in the films Fail Safe and The Eagle Has Landed, deal with this awkwardness? In an annoying way!\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_16-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;He would do things like eat an onion before a kissing scene with me,&#8221; Gray shared. &#8220;Like, &#8216;Oh, great, Larry. Thanks.'&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p> Larry Hagman&#8217;s scene partner for kissing moments on &#8216;Dallas&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Gray said he would also sometimes eat peanut butter, and she would struggle to keep a straight face.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> This yuckster attitude was apparently contagious, because Gray herself got in on the act on a day in which she was scheduled to kiss the young hunk <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/person\/christopher-atkins\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christopher Atkins<\/a>, who had a recurring role for one season as a camp counselor.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_23-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Though the precise details are a little murky in her memory, Gray confessed that she did, one time, put some kind of dental numbing agent on her mouth in a scene with her (as she put it) &#8220;toy boy.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p> Linda Gray with Christopher Atkins on &#8216;Dallas&#8217; in 1983.<\/p>\n<p>CBS Photo Archive\/Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_26-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;I kissed him, and then the whole crew was kind of standing there not moving when the scene was over,&#8221; she remembered. &#8220;We&#8217;re all watching him, and he was like &#8216;Wow, my lips&#8230;'&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_28-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> She added, &#8220;Oh, poor Chris.
