SAN ANTONIO – One suspect has been charged after allegedly beating a pregnant woman and fleeing police after being handcuffed.<\/p>\n
On Aug. 7, police were called to the scene for a reported assault. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the victim, as well as the suspect involved.<\/p>\n
Police say the victim told them that the suspect, who is the father of her children, attacked her during a dispute, pulling her hair and shoving her against a wall outside of an apartment.<\/p>\n
The victim also suffered a visible cut on her foot from broken glass on the ground outside the apartments.<\/p>\n
Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Roderick Tyshawn Walker, and placed him in handcuffs while they continued their investigation.<\/p>\n
The victim told police that she is 16 weeks pregnant, and that the suspect knew this at the time of the attack.<\/p>\n
While the officers were completing their investigation, the suspect allegedly slipped away and fled the scene on foot while still handcuffed.<\/p>\n
Police then swept the surrounding area, but could not find the suspect. They collected a statement from the victim and a description of what the suspect had been wearing when arrested.<\/p>\n
According to the arrest affidavit, Walker had been wanted on multiple other municipal court warrants. Walker has been previously charged with two counts of Abandonment or Endangerment of a Child with Intent to Return.<\/p>\n
Roderick Tyshawn Walker was arrested on Saturday, Sept. 9, on charges of Assault of a Pregnant Person, as well as Escape while Arrested\/Confined.
