Rising junior golf standout Logan McGinn, 13, of South Williamsport officially qualified for the 121st Philadelphia Open championship after shooting a 1-over 71 in the Golf Association of Philadelphia\u2019s open qualifier this week.<\/p>\n
McGinn, the youngest golfer in the field, earned his spot in one of the nation\u2019s oldest and most prestigious open championships, behind only the U.S. Open and Western Open. his round \u2014 which included 13 pars, two birdies and three bogeys \u2014 showcased mature course management and mental resilience.<\/p>\n
He played in a featured group alongside Temple standout Matthew Vital and Siena College graduate Jack Hamilton, demonstrating that he belongs among the elite competition in the sport.<\/p>\n
\u201cI learned a lot watching how they managed their games,\u201d McGinn said. \u201cI just focused on my process and tried to stay steady mentally.\u201d<\/p>\n
Officially in the field for the 121st Philadelphia Open, McGinn is preparing to compete against some of the best amateur and professional golfers in the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cQualifying was a huge goal of mine, but now the work continues,\u201d McGinn said. \u201cI\u2019m not just there to play \u2014 I\u2019m there to compete.\u201d<\/p>\n
