Through three games this season, TCU has already knocked off a pair of top-25 opponents, one shy of tying the program record for most in a single season.

Playing without senior captain Jalyn Gibson, who announced earlier in the day that she would miss the remainder of the 2025 season after suffering a knee injury against the Nittany Lions, TCU turned to sophomores Evan Hendrix and Becca Kelley. Hendrix led the team with 12 kills and added four blocks, while Kelley finished with eight kills and four stuffs. Freshman Samara Coleman made her first career start, providing four kills to the offense.

The Frogs had the block going all night, totaling 14.0 rejections and holding UCLA (1-2, 0-0 Big Ten) to a .096 hitting percentage. Senior Sarah Sylvester set the tone at the net with seven blocks, moving into sixth on the all-time blocks list at TCU with 343.0 in her career. Juniors Alexis Roberson and Lauren Murphy also tied their career highs with six and five blocks on the night, respectively.

TCU wasted no time, taking a quick 7-2 lead right out of the gate as Hendrix caught fire. UCLA slowly chipped away at the lead, eventually tying the match back up at 12-12. From there, both teams traded points back and forth until a Kelley kill sparked a 4-0 run to close out the set for the Frogs, 25-21.

The momentum carried over into set two as TCU was in control. The Frogs overcame a three-point deficit to start the set and quickly turned it into a three-point advantage at 18-15. Hendrix stretched the lead with back-to-back kills late, and a UCLA service error handed TCU a 2-0 lead with a 25-22 set victory.

UCLA made some adjustments in the third set, which featured 12 ties and seven lead changes. The Bruins led by as many as five at 18-13, but a late 7-2 run had the Frogs knocking on the door of the sweep. Tied at 22 all, Sylvester, Murphy and Hendrix slammed down kills to close out the match in three sets, 25-23.

TCU and UCLA run it back on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 6:30 p.m. CT in Schollmaier Arena.

For all the latest TCU volleyball news, follow the Frogs on X at @TCUVolleyball, on Instagram at @tcuvolleyball and on Facebook at TCU Volleyball.

FORT WORTH – Playing at home for the first time this season, No. 24 TCU dominated No. 19 UCLA,…

[5138
5229,7371,7372,358,3187,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-209117","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-fort-worth","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-fort-worth","10":"tag-fortworth","11":"tag-texas","12":"tag-tx","13":"tag-united-states","14":"tag-united-states-of-america","15":"tag-unitedstates","16":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","17":"tag-us","18":"tag-usa
["GET
