Sunday’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards was a night of repeat champions, surprise upsets, and first-time winners. Alan Cumming<\/strong> scored back-to-back victories as Best Reality Host for The Traitors, while Barack Obama<\/strong> notched his third Best Narrator Emmy for Our Oceans. The late Paul Reubens<\/strong> was also honored, winning his first Primetime Emmy<\/a> as a coproducer of the year\u2019s Best Documentary or Nonfiction Special, Pee-wee as Himself.<\/p>\n

One of the night\u2019s biggest shocks came when 100 Foot Wave rode to victory in Best Nonfiction Series, toppling heavy favorites SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night and Simone Biles Rising. <\/p>\n

The surprises kept coming in Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking, where Patrice: The Movie pulled off an upset over Netflix\u2019s The Remarkable Life of Ibelin and Prime Video\u2019s I Am: Celine Dion. Rounding out the night, Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong> grabbed Best Game Show Host, while Jeopardy! claimed the coveted Best Game Show trophy.<\/p>\n

In the final count, SNL50: The Anniversary Special was the biggest winner, claiming seven statuettes. <\/p>\n

Also of note: after being canceled earlier this year, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert won its first-ever Emmy, for Best Directing for a Variety Series. The program is currently leading the Gold Derby predictions<\/a> to win Best Variety Talk Series at next weekend’s Primetime Emmys<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All told 46 trophies were handed out Sunday across nonfiction, reality, documentary, and variety categories at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. It was the conclusion to the two-part Creative Arts presentation.<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s ceremony kicked off the weekend with Apple TV+ dominating thanks to The Studio and Severance. The Studio led with nine wins, including Bryan Cranston<\/strong> earning Best Comedy Guest Actor for his seventh career Emmy. Severance bagged six awards, capped by Merritt Wever\u2019s<\/strong> surprise victory for Best Drama Guest Actress. <\/p>\n

Saturday was also a good night for HBO, as The Penguin scored eight victories alongside major acting wins for Julianne Nicholson<\/strong> in Best Comedy Guest Actress for Hacks and Shawn Hatosy<\/strong> in Best Drama Guest Actor for The Pitt.<\/p>\n
