Walmart shoppers in Southern Dallas can now have their groceries dropped out of the sky.<\/p>\n
The retailer has rolled out drone delivery service from its Supercenter on Samuell Boulevard, partnering with California-based Zipline to bring orders of up to five and a half pounds straight to customers\u2019 doorsteps in about 30 minutes.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the first time drone grocery delivery has been available in Southern Dallas, and the site becomes the seventh Walmart in North Texas to launch the program. Other locations already offering the service include Mesquite, Weatherford, Waxahachie, Kaufman, Greenville, and Bedford.<\/p>\n
Zipline\u2019s electric drones fly quietly at about 300 feet and lower packages by tether, making deliveries without the need for customers to step outside. Walmart says eligible customers can place orders online, and the drones will deliver fresh, frozen, and pantry items within the delivery zone.<\/p>\n
The expansion reflects Walmart\u2019s push to test new technology across Dallas-Fort Worth, one of its largest markets. Zipline says its drones have already completed millions of deliveries worldwide, and Walmart plans to scale the service as demand grows.<\/p>\n
