And by Wednesday, inland valley communities will feel temperatures 10-15 degrees below average.<\/p>\n<p>Marine-layer clouds will be more extensive heading into the middle of the week, with increased onshore winds.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/PM_Briefing-542.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"hashed-image\" img-data-alignment=\"center\" img-data-width=\"percent-hundred\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spectrumnews1.com\/snpluslive\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Spectrum_News_Plus_PromoCard_4-11-2023.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" class=\"hashed-image\" img-data-alignment=\"center\" img-data-width=\"percent-hundred\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nIntroducing Spectrum News+<br \/>Watch the latest news from across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Around SoCal<\/p>\n<p>1. <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumnews1.com\/ca\/southern-california\/public-safety\/2025\/09\/07\/usc-campus-bomb-threat.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">2 libraries on USC campus evacuated by bomb threat<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Two libraries at USC&#8217;s University Park Campus were evacuated Sunday after a bomb threat was reported.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday afternoon&#8217;s announcement affected the Leavey Library and the Doheny Memorial Library, campus police posted on X.<\/p>\n<p>People were urged to stay away from the area.<\/p>\n<p>The Leavey Library is on West 34th Street west of Figueroa Street and the Doheny Memorial Library is located off Childs Way west of Figueroa.<\/p>\n<p>USC announced on social media Sunday afternoon that the search had concluded but that both libraries would remain closed until Monday morning as a precaution.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumnews1.com\/ca\/southern-california\/politics\/2025\/09\/08\/bass-returns-from-new-york-city-.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bass returns from New York City to study its response to street homelessness<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mayor Karen Bass returned to Los Angeles Saturday after a brief visit to New York City she said she made to study its success in providing interim housing for people who had been living on the streets.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of the things that I knew about New York, and I wanted to come here and see what they had developed, is that they started years and years ago developing a system of interim housing,&#8221; Bass told City News Service in a telephone interview Friday from New York City.<\/p>\n<p>Bass emphasized that approximately 97% of homeless people in New York City are sheltered, citing statistics from the New York Department of Social Services, and hopes to emulate that success in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor met with Department of Social Services Commissioner Molly Wasow Park on Friday and toured several of the city&#8217;s facilities with traditional and interim housing.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumnews1.com\/ca\/southern-california\/politics\/2025\/09\/05\/lapd-and-chp-to-protect-kamala-harris-after-trump-pulls-secret-service.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">LAPD stops providing protection for Kamala Harris<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles Police Department stopped providing special protection for former Vice President Kamala Harris Saturday, days after the Brentwood resident had her Secret Service protection rescinded by President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>After Trump ordered the Secret Service detail to be pulled as of Sept. 1, the California Highway Patrol moved to fill the gap, assisted by specialized units from the LAPD&#8217;s Metropolitan Division.<\/p>\n<p>The latter move by the LAPD, at the behest of Mayor Karen Bass, was met with &#8220;heavy criticism within its own ranks that officers were being diverted from crime suppression&#8221; to protect Harris, according to the Los Angeles Times.
