{"id":210558,"date":"2025-09-08T15:53:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T15:53:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/210558\/"},"modified":"2025-09-08T15:53:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T15:53:10","slug":"michael-stewart-rips-apart-celtics-statement-and-brilliantly-states-the-one-word-they-shouldve-used","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/210558\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Stewart rips apart Celtic&#8217;s statement and brilliantly states the one word they should&#8217;ve used"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Celtic board have somehow made things even worse over the weekend. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After an abject <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/transfers\/celtic-summer-2025-transfers-signings-exits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025 summer transfer window<\/a>, which played a part in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/jim-white-tells-simon-jordan-what-people-in-england-forget-about-celtic-after-champions-league-exit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic crashing out of the Champions League<\/a>, the fans, rightly so, demanded answers from the powers that be. <\/p>\n<p>As many know too well, that\u2019s just a pipe dream because Dermot Desmond, Peter Lawwell or Michael Nicholson simply aren\u2019t going to come out and directly speak to fans because they never have.<\/p>\n<p>But on Saturday evening, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/transfers\/chris-sutton-speaks-the-truth-and-reacts-to-celtics-statement-over-transfer-dealings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic dropped a club statement<\/a> regarding how and why they went about recent transfer dealings, and it has resulted in an even bigger reaction from fans and the media. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-1291018005-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"A Celtic fan protests against Celtic board member Peter Lawwell\" class=\"wp-image-314452\" \/>Photo by Ian MacNicol\/Getty ImagesMichael Stewart slams Celtic\u2019s statement regarding the summer transfer window<\/p>\n<p>Even the ardent Celtic supporter doesn\u2019t need to tell you that what the club put out was total waffle and a lack of accountability from themselves as a board. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/michael-stewart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael Stewart<\/a> told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/p0m1d3m6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">BBC Radio Scotland<\/a> that it was \u2018an absolute PR disaster\u2019, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic<\/a> felt they were \u2018under pressure\u2019 to speak.<\/p>\n<p>The former Scotland midfielder brilliantly stated, things were so bad that the statement could have been just one word, and that\u2019s \u2018sorry.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reserves were not used in recruitment,\u201d explained Stewart. \u201cCash reserves have not been touched because they\u2019ve brought more money in than they\u2019re spending.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe statement is an absolute PR disaster. Talk about \u2018not being able to read the room\u2019. Of course, they were under pressure; they felt like they had to speak, but to be perfectly honest, they\u2019d have been better just being quiet than coming out with that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re conflating all sorts of things as gobbledygook, talking about sustainability. Nobody\u2019s talking about going and spending all the cash reserves. You\u2019re talking about spending to be able to grow and accrue more revenue. They\u2019ve lost out on the revenue from the Champions League in large part because they didn\u2019t spend enough and at the right times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt no juncture in that statement did the Celtic board actually just come out and say, \u2018do you know what, it\u2019s not been as good as we hoped\u2019.
