WASHINGTON \u2014\u00a0Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent<\/a>\u00a0and Bill Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, got into an explosive argument last week \u2014 with threats of physical violence involved, The Post has confirmed.<\/p>\n

Two sources say that\u00a0Bessent<\/a>, 63, threatened to beat up Pulte, 37, for allegedly trash-talking him to President Trump.<\/p>\n

At one point, the Treasury chief lashed out at Pulte, saying: \u201cWhy the f\u2014 are you talking to the president about me? F\u2014 you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m gonna punch you in your f\u2014ing face,\u201d added Bessent.<\/p>\n

Pulte\u2019s response was not immediately clear, but the grudge match \u2014 first reported by Politico \u2014 is just the latest outbreak of discontent inside the administration.<\/p>\n

Pulte and Bessent have some overlapping duties \u2014 including plans to privatize the federal mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac \u2014 but have also expressed differing opinions about what to do about the Federal Reserve.<\/p>\n

Bessent has reportedly advised the president not to fire Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, whereas Pulte has been on a crusade to clear out central bank members\u00a0\u2014 most recently referring Board of Governors member Lisa Cook to the Justice Department over allegations of mortgage fraud.<\/p>\n

The spat\u00a0broke out at the Executive Branch social club \u2014\u00a0co-founded by banker Omeed Malik and first son Donald Trump Jr.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The swanky members-only lodge in DC\u2019s Georgetown neighborhood\u00a0took in $500,000\u00a0from each\u00a0founding member\u00a0earlier this year and was requesting a $150,000 initiation fee and annual dues of $15,000 starting this month\u00a0for new applicants.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Pulte row was\u00a0not the first time Bessent has threatened to get physical with another Trump official.<\/p>\n

In April, the Treasury secretary reportedly\u00a0hit billionaire Elon Musk<\/a>\u00a0after the then-Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) leader body-checked Bessent outside the Oval Office.<\/p>\n

The two\u00a0got into a spat over dueling candidates<\/a>\u00a0to serve as the acting head of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).<\/p>\n

Musk was pushing for IRS\u00a0whistleblower Gary Shapley,\u00a0who\u00a0later got the job<\/a>, whereas Bessent\u2019s choice was\u00a0his deputy,\u00a0Michael Faulkender.<\/p>\n

As the two began to exit,\u00a0Bessent confronted Musk\u00a0<\/a>and began labeling him a \u201cfraud,\u201d according to former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, before the shouting match got ugly and the Tesla and Space X\u00a0CEO lowered his shoulder at the Treasury secretary \u201clike a rugby player.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bessent later told Congress that claims he called Musk a fraud were \u201cfake news,\u201d though he did not address whether\u00a0contact was made.<\/p>\n

Faulkender\u00a0later served just five months as head of the IRS after Bessent ousted Shapley to install his pick.<\/p>\n

Last week, the DOJ launched a\u00a0criminal probe into Cook<\/a>\u00a0for allegedly claiming two separate properties in Michigan and Atlanta were both her principal residences.<\/p>\n

Pulte made the allegations after uncovering the loan documents and posting his findings on X.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The FHFA head has also reportedly pushed Trump to consider ousting Powell for refusing to cut interest rates.<\/p>\n
