A key element concerns transparency and fairness in how food products are marketed and labelled. The EPP Group has succeeded in ensuring that traditional names such as \u2018steak\u2019 or \u2018burger\u2019 must be reserved exclusively for products derived from animal meat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA steak is made of meat \u2014 full stop. Using these names only for real meat keeps labels honest, protects farmers, and preserves Europe\u2019s culinary traditions,\u201d says C\u00e9line Imart MEP, the Parliament\u2019s lead negotiator on the file.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLab-grown meat is not only a total aberration but also a threat to traditional farming and real food production, the core of European agriculture. Farmers deserve fair treatment, and consumers deserve clarity.
