Rory McIlroy had an emotional embrace with his wife Erica Stoll and their daughter Poppy after winning his second Irish Open title at The K Club on Sunday. <\/p>\n
The world No. 2 overcame\u00a0Joakim Lagergren of Sweden on the third playoff hole to secure his first victory since the Masters following a quiet end to the PGA Tour season.<\/p>\n

Getty Images<\/p>\n \u201cTo do what I did earlier in the year and then to come home and win my national open, no matter what happens for the rest of the year, that\u2019s a pretty cool year,\u201d McIlroy told Sky Sports <\/a>afterwards. \u201c2025 is going to go down as one of the best, if not the best of my career.<\/p>\n \u201cAs I said, we\u2019re not finished yet. I\u2019ve got a big week next week at Wentworth and then obviously everyone\u2019s looking forward to the Ryder Cup. I\u2019m just so happy my game\u2019s in good shape. Getty Images<\/p>\n McIlroy gushed that his homecoming \u201cexceeded all of my expectations.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cI thought it was going to be a nice homecoming, obviously coming home with a green jacket and all that, but this has been absolutely incredible,\u201d McIlroy said.<\/p>\n \u201cThis has exceeded all of my expectations.
