{"id":211813,"date":"2025-09-09T03:36:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T03:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/211813\/"},"modified":"2025-09-09T03:36:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T03:36:13","slug":"australia-post-resuming-all-us-shipping-by-september-25-after-meeting-tariff-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/211813\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia Post resuming all US shipping by September 25 after meeting tariff rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Australia Post is resuming all US shipping within weeks, after the national delivery service found a way to meet new US tariff rules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;While we are planning to lift the temporary suspension on Thursday, September 25, if we are able to lift this earlier, we absolutely will,&#8221; Australia Post executive Gary Starr said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The government-owned postal service made the extraordinary decision last month to stop delivering many items to the United States in response to the Trump administration ending the so-called &#8220;de minimis&#8221; exemption on low-value goods entering the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Until August 29, parcels of goods worth less than $US800 ($1,230) were not taxed when they arrived in the US \u2014 an exemption relied upon by many Australian retailers to send items to the US duty-free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Australia Post was just one of many global postal carriers thrown into chaos due to not having systems to collect and distribute the new taxes on imported goods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">It announced on August 26, just days before the end of the de minimis, that it needed to halt most US shipping.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">It also halted shipping to a range of US external territories, including Puerto Rico and Guam.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Australia Post now says it has a deal with a third-party platform to deal with the taxes, and will resume all shipping by September 25.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;Along with more than 190 other postal providers internationally, we&#8217;ve been caught in a fast-moving situation not of our making,&#8221; Mr Starr said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;The real impact has been on our customers who export their goods to the US accessing our cost-efficient postal service, so we&#8217;ve been working around the clock to find a solution.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\"><strong>Are you being impacted by Australia Post&#8217;s decision? (ABC News: Michael Lloyd)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Smith is already working with Australia Post&#8217;s new third-party platform and expects his fashion brand to turn US orders back on by the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;You can&#8217;t use Australia Post now unless you go with Zonos,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;It&#8217;s been interesting.
