One in four residents living in Los Angeles County \u201cexperience food insecurity, or the lack of access to sufficient or healthy food to meet basic nutritional needs,\u201d according to officials at Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.<\/p>\n

The food bank works to help those in need throughout the year, and September is \u201cHunger Action Month,\u201d when Los Angeles Regional Food Bank officials urge community members to \u201ctake action to support neighbors across L.A. County who are unsure of where their next meal will come from.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officials at the food bank are looking for volunteers to help their cause. In a prepared statement officials said, \u201cFor just a few hours, you can help sort, box, and prepare food that will be distributed through our 600-plus partner agencies. We welcome both individuals and groups\u2014and volunteers often tell us how rewarding it feels to make a direct impact.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since 1973, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has provided more than one billion meals to those in need.<\/p>\n
