The city of San Diego will temporarily restrict a portion of Via de la Valle near the Del Mar Fairgrounds beginning Monday evening for a road improvement project.<\/p>\n
According to the city, asphalt overlay work will take place 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday nights, continuing through 5 a.m. the following morning, in an area immediately east of San Andres Drive to immediately east of the intersection of Jimmy Durante Boulevard and Valley Avenue.<\/p>\n
“This segment of work includes improvements to more than 1.8 lane miles,” according to the city.<\/p>\n
The city will coordinate with Caltrans on ramp closures from Via de la Valle to the northbound and southbound Interstate 5.<\/p>\n
The northbound and southbound on-ramps to I-5 from westbound Via de la Valle will be closed Monday night, according to the city.<\/p>\n
The southbound on-ramp to I-5 from eastbound Via de la Valle will be closed on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
While the project will allow for eastbound and westbound traffic on Via de la Valle during working hours, traffic in each direction will be reduced, officials said.<\/p>\n
Electronic signs were posted to notify travelers of the closure and related detours.<\/p>\n
The road project is part of AC Overlay Group 2303, which involves resurfacing various streets in several communities. Contractors will remove damaged roads, replace them with fresh asphalt and re-stripe lanes.<\/p>\n
Other improvements include upgraded vehicular loop detectors and curb ramps to accommodate people with disabilities, according to the city.<\/p>\n
