\n\t\u201cThe Conjuring<\/a>\u201d TV series currently in development at HBO Max<\/a> has taken a big step forward. <\/p>\n

\n\tVariety has learned exclusively from sources that Nancy Won has boarded the project to serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. In addition, both Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires are attached to write on the series. <\/p>\n

\n\tHBO Max declined to comment. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe show was first reported to be in development<\/a> at HBO Max back in 2023. Exact plot details remain under wraps aside from the fact the show will continue the story established in \u201cThe Conjuring\u201d film franchise. Peter Safran remains onboard as an executive producer, with James Wan\u2019s Atomic Monster producing. Warner Bros. Television is the studio. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe news comes just days after \u201cThe Conjuring: Last Rites\u201d premiered in theaters. The fourth film in \u201cThe Conjuring\u201d franchise has gone over like gangbusters at the box office, grossing over $194 million worldwide so far. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe first \u201cThe Conjuring\u201d film debuted in 2013. The films star Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they take on different supernatural cases. In addition to the four main films, \u201cThe Conjuring\u201d has also spawned the spinoff franchises \u201cAnnabelle\u201d and \u201cThe Nun,\u201d which have produced three and two films respectively to date. Collectively, the films have grossed nearly $2.5 billion worldwide. <\/p>\n

\n\tWon\u2019s recent TV writing credits include \u201cSunny\u201d at Apple TV+, \u201cTiny Beautiful Things\u201d and \u201cLittle Fires Everywhere\u201d at Hulu, and the Marvel series \u201cJessica Jones\u201d at Netflix. She is also known for her work on \u201cJericho\u201d and \u201cSupernatural\u201d among several other series. <\/p>\n

\n\tBoth Cameron and Squires have worked on multiple Marvel projects in recent years. Cameron has written for the special \u201cWerewolf by Night\u201d as well as for shows like \u201cAgatha All Along,\u201d \u201cMoon Knight,\u201d and \u201cWandaVision.\u201d Squires also wrote for \u201cAgatha All Along\u201d and \u201cWandaVision\u201d as well as shows such as \u201cAgent Elvis,\u201d the \u201cStar Wars\u201d series \u201cThe Acolyte,\u201d and Season 2 of \u201cThe Boys\u201d companion series \u201cGen V.\u201d <\/p>\n
