against Serbia and so it transpired in Belgrade, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/142200\/harry-kane\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Harry Kane<\/a>&#8216;s headed opener was quickly followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/293236\/noni-madueke\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Noni Madueke<\/a>&#8216;s impressive first international goal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/story\/_\/id\/46175428\/djed-spence-becomes-england-first-muslim-player\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Djed Spence becomes England&#8217;s 1st Muslim player<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/story\/_\/id\/46208975\/erling-haaland-scores-5-norway-keep-pressure-italy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Haaland nets 5 as Norway keep pressure on Italy<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a data-player-guid=\"563087a7-4d45-217c-f54d-e389474a5b87\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/231859\/ezri-konsa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ezri Konsa<\/a> opened his England account in the second half, as did fellow defender <a data-player-guid=\"476ae006-e5b6-49ac-b037-01ebe4436944\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/265907\/marc-guehi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marc Gu\u00e9hi<\/a> after turning home the free-kick that followed Nikola Milenkovic&#8217;s sending-off for a foul on Kane.<\/p>\n<p>Substitute <a data-player-guid=\"73bfa01e-2ac7-2124-a245-7af746308a53\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/230945\/marcus-rashford\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marcus Rashford<\/a> added a fifth from the spot at the silenced Rajko Mitic Stadium, where a laser pen and whistle were used in a bid to distract the visitors before tempers flared in the stands and fans called for boss Dragan Stojkovic to leave.<\/p>\n<p>The result in Belgrade meant Tuchel&#8217;s side increased their stranglehold on the top of Group K, moving seven points clear of second-placed <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"1a802e32-0a5f-617f-0cbe-d25a5b9bef62\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/team?id=585\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Albania<\/a> with three to play.<\/p>\n<p>The cavernous Rajko Mitic Stadium was partially closed on Tuesday due to, among other things, what FIFA called &#8220;discrimination and racist abuse&#8221; in June&#8217;s match against Andorra.<\/p>\n<p>England had spoken about UEFA&#8217;s three-step protocol in the build-up but, thankfully, the night appeared to pass without such an incident.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"\" data-mptype=\"image\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\"\/>Noni Madueke celebrates after scoring England&#8217;s second goal against Serbia.<\/p>\n<p>Tuchel made four changes against a Serbia side that lined up even more negatively than the England boss had expected, but his side kept patient as they sought to break down another low block.<\/p>\n<p>It was a slow start but they turned up the pressure midway through the first half, starting with <a data-player-guid=\"6d2a6f94-d9e3-a1ed-461e-4c0e61d67be3\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/238262\/declan-rice\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Declan Rice<\/a> just failing to get a clean header on a <a data-player-guid=\"b89d5b36-af9b-ee96-1d95-3dcb40636b86\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/189007\/reece-james\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reece James<\/a> cross.<\/p>\n<p>Kane was unable to direct in Madueke&#8217;s deflected cross-shot and <a data-player-guid=\"1c67a47d-7b8f-d560-6aaf-0f9e73b00f51\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/268782\/anthony-gordon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anthony Gordon<\/a> was denied by <a data-player-guid=\"af2b7cc1-2a6e-9ca1-30b3-6955e8b1d103\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/289824\/djordje-petrovic\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Djordje Petrovic<\/a> as Serbia began to wobble, with England capitalising in the 33rd minute.<\/p>\n<p>The visitors had been taking a meticulous approach to set-pieces and Kane was inexplicably allowed to meet Rice&#8217;s outswinging corner with a header that went in off the post.<\/p>\n<p>A second England goal followed two minutes later. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/265653\/morgan-rogers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Morgan Rogers<\/a>&#8216; smart flick from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/238472\/elliot-anderson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elliot Anderson<\/a>&#8216;s pass put Madueke behind, with the winger keeping cool under pressure and smartly clipping home.<\/p>\n<p>A message to Serbian supporters was issued due to the use of a laser pen in the stands and another fan was blowing a whistle in an attempt to trick England&#8217;s players, but Serbia needed much more help than that and their furious fans called for boss Stojkovic to go at the half-time whistle.<\/p>\n<p>England smelt blood and extended their lead seven minutes into the second half.<\/p>\n<p>Petrovic could only spill a shot from Gordon into that path of Guehi to bundle on, with Konsa turning home at the far post.<\/p>\n<p>Serbia&#8217;s faint hopes of a comeback had gone up in smoke and the visitors continued to threaten, with Rice frequently finding himself in dangerous positions.<\/p>\n<p>There were scuffles in the home end just after the hour mark and Tuchel turned to his bench, including introducing debutant <a data-player-guid=\"68b803ee-5842-c7e3-edb1-644e9398e648\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/267711\/djed-spence\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Djed Spence<\/a>\u00a0&#8212; a historic moment as he is understood to be England&#8217;s first Muslim player.<\/p>\n<p>The visitors continued to push for more and Serbia skipper Milenkovic was shown red for a hefty challenge on Kane as last man. Rice sent in the resulting free kick and Guehi did well to direct home from close range.<\/p>\n<p>Rashford and Rice had attempts as England kept their foot on Serbia&#8217;s throat, with <a data-player-guid=\"44385bb0-5afb-b30c-42da-dad8cdd18ff1\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/198825\/ollie-watkins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ollie Watkins<\/a> seeing a goal ruled out for offside.<\/p>\n<p>England were awarded a late penalty following a VAR review for a foul on the latter by <a data-player-guid=\"c094f5a6-8fa7-8d93-06e1-83112d55f624\" href=\"http:\/\/espn.com\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/277119\/strahinja-erakovic\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Strahinja Erakovic<\/a>.
