(File photo by Chris Stone\/Times of San Diego)<\/p>\n<p>The owner of a San Diego residential care facility is facing elder abuse charges for the alleged neglect of senior citizens staying at her Mira Mesa facility, the state said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Maria Erolina Delgado, 62, who owns <a href=\"https:\/\/choosewellsandiego.org\/profile\/j-m-happy-guest-home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">J &amp; M Happy Guest Home<\/a>, is accused of leaving the facility \u201cseverely understaffed,\u201d resulting in multiple residents suffering from bed sores, dehydration and malnourishment. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/oag.ca.gov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">California Attorney General\u2019s Office<\/a> also alleged some residents were left in soiled diapers for days at a time.<\/p>\n<p>A criminal complaint filed in San Diego Superior Court charges her with two felony and two misdemeanor counts of elder abuse involving four different residents. All the conduct allegedly occurred in 2020, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur elders deserve care that is safe, dignified and consistently held to the highest standards.
