{"id":214647,"date":"2025-09-10T04:54:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T04:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/214647\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T04:54:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T04:54:12","slug":"tejano-singer-shares-personal-health-battle-fan-tribute-pour-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/214647\/","title":{"rendered":"Tejano singer shares personal health battle, fan tribute pour in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANTONIO &#8211; Fans of San Antonio Tejano singer Ramiro &#8216;Ram&#8217; Herrera are sending him well wishes after he announced his battle with prostate cancer.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s now in stage 4 of the disease.<\/p>\n<p>Tributes are pouring in from across Texas for the 65-year-old; offering prayers as he gears up for this fight.<\/p>\n<p>His wife Liz, saying they&#8217;re ready to take cancer on by the horns.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want to talk to you a little bit about something very personal to me,&#8221; the singer said in a video posted to Facebook. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been diagnosed with stage four cancer of the prostate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He posted the video to his fan page just after midnight Tuesday, telling them \u2014 a fight is coming.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s so many things I want to do still.. musically and just in life itself, personally,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I just got married, and I want to enjoy the marriage.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Herrera tied the knot with his wife Liz this summer. In a brief phone conversation \u2014 she said her husband is preparing for surgery Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My treatment is going to be very simple,&#8221; the singer explained. &#8220;Thank God, I&#8217;m not gonna have no chemo. I was worried about that, because I know chemo can really mess you up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Prayers have poured in on social media from loving fans. Herrera urged them to pay close attention to their health.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m gonna have to change my diet and everything else, and I&#8217;m gonna have to change my whole way of living, basically,&#8221; Herrera said. &#8220;Like I say.. I urge y&#8217;all to go get screened before it&#8217;s too late.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/cancer\/types\/prostate-cancer\/about\/key-statistics.html\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/cancer\/types\/prostate-cancer\/about\/key-statistics.html\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">American Cancer Society<\/a>, 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Those chances are higher in men 65 and older.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From the bottom of my heart. It means a lot to me, and I want to keep on singing &#8211; so still be around. I got a lot of life left.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Herrera did not share how long he&#8217;s known about the diagnosis, adding his cancer is treatable.
