While upgrades are good, they do often come at a cost. In this case, Ice Universe reports that the camera island on the Ultra will get noticeably chunkier.

Last week, Ice reported that the S26 Ultra will measure 163.4mm tall and 77.9mm wide, which is 0.6mm taller and 0.3mm wider than the S25 Ultra. Now the leakster has details on the depth dimension.

The new model will be thinner at its thinnest part – 7.9mm, compared to 8.2mm on the current model – but the camera island will get thicker, going from 2.4mm to 4.5mm.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a thicker camera island

This is reportedly to incorporate the new main and telephoto lenses. The main camera isn’t getting a new sensor, but it will get a wider aperture of f/1.4 (with a variable aperture feature to allow the phone to adjust to different lighting conditions).

As for the telephoto camera, there was talk of a 200MP sensor, however, more recent info suggests a much more restrained 50MP long and 12MP mid-range telephoto modules. Ice criticizes the 50MP periscope module for its small 1/2.52” sensor size.
