SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 Victor Wembanyama is looking for some San Antonio fans to join his new team.<\/p>\n

The Spurs have announced plans for a tryout for a new \u201csupporter\u2019s section,\u201d with tryouts for the group set to be held on Sunday. Wembanyama came up with the plan, which is loosely modeled after what he\u2019s seen from soccer and basketball teams in Europe and around the world.<\/p>\n

The section of fans, the Spurs said, will feature \u201cnonstop chants, drums, flags, and passion.\u201d Wembanyama, the team\u2019s All-Star center, will appear at Sunday\u2019s tryout, the Spurs said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been an idea,\u201d Wembanyama said. \u201cAnd now it\u2019s a project.\u201d<\/p>\n

In short, Wembanyama and the Spurs are looking for some high-energy fans who can commit to attending at least 75% of the team\u2019s home games this season, plus are willing to \u201cparticipate in chants and rituals\u201d all while supporting \u201cwith passion and respect.\u201d There\u2019s a $999 membership cost to be in the new club, and it comes with some privileges such as discounts and the chance to meet surprise special guests.<\/p>\n

The group will vote on its own name as well. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf this group of ultras reaches its full potential, I have no doubt that it\u2019s going to help us win games in the future for sure,\u201d Wembanyama said. \u201dI mean, the 41 regular season games at home this season, that\u2019s 41 opportunities for them to push in the fourth quarter and give us that extra energy and that second wind that can give us the win.\u201d<\/p>\n
