{"id":215216,"date":"2025-09-10T10:07:17","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T10:07:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/215216\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T10:07:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T10:07:17","slug":"hisd-pledges-only-a-and-b-rated-campuses-by-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/215216\/","title":{"rendered":"HISD pledges only A and B-rated campuses by 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>HOUSTON <\/strong> \u2013 Amid what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/topic\/Houston_ISD\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/topic\/Houston_ISD\/\">Houston ISD <\/a>Superintendent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/topic\/Mike_Miles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/topic\/Mike_Miles\/\">Mike Miles<\/a> described as \u201cremarkable academic progress\u201d in the district, he has made a new promise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Within two years, all schools in the district will be rated as either A or B.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWe can make this promise so that all can mean all,\u201d Miles said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">Describing the state of American education today, Miles referenced a national report card released Tuesday. Miles says public education has been failing because the achievement gap has not been closed on a large scale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">Referencing a map of Houston in 2023, at the time, there were 121 failing schools out of 271 schools in the district. The majority of the failing schools were in areas of high poverty or where language barriers posed an issue with education. These were marked with pink or red dots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">Moving to a 2025 map, there are no identifiers in areas of high poverty or where there are language barriers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cGeography does not dictate destiny,\u201d Miles said, referencing the fact that there are no longer any F-rated schools in the district.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">Miles also said thousands more kids in the district were now reading and doing math at grade levels.
