Expect to start the day with lows in the mid to upper 60s across Houston and Conroe, with Galveston holding close to 80 degrees. But as the day heats up, the forecast calls for afternoon highs reaching 94 degrees by 3 p.m. While things will still feel relatively comfortable at first, you\u2019ll want to plan for heat as the day goes on.<\/p>\n
An ozone watch is in effect for Wednesday afternoon. The combination of sunny skies, warm temperatures, and light winds could create air quality issues. Those sensitive to air quality might want to limit afternoon outdoor activities.<\/p>\n

Expect humidity to rise, with forecasts turning from \u201ccomfortable\u201d to \u201cmuggy\u201d and \u201chumid.\u201d Winds will change direction from northeasterly to southeasterly by Thursday, allowing more moisture to move in from the Gulf. A passing coastal shower is possible on Thursday, though rain chances remain low.<\/p>\n

No tropical development is expected in the Atlantic over the next week \u2014 a noteworthy break, considering we\u2019re sitting at the statistical peak of hurricane season on September 10. Historically, this week is when the basin is most active, with the greatest number of storms on record forming around this date.<\/p>\n

Given that we are nearly at the peak of hurricane season, it is remarkable that we\u2019re relatively quiet in the Atlantic Basin. However, we\u2019ll keep a watch on the boundary that is sitting in the Gulf. <\/p>\n
