Jannik Sinner not only lost the US Open final to Carlos Alcaraz, but also his place as number one in the world rankings.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ATP top 10<\/a> has been updated following the conclusion of the US Open, where Alcaraz<\/a> lifted the trophy for a second time.<\/p>\n

He defeated Sinner<\/a> in another exciting Grand Slam final between the duo, who also met at the same stage of the French Open and Wimbledon this year.<\/p>\n

But their latest tie had extra significance, with Alcaraz returning to the summit of the ATP<\/a> rankings in place of his closest rival.<\/p>\n

Sinner spent 65 weeks in that spot after first claiming it last summer, at which point he became the first Italian number one.<\/p>\n

But his lengthy reign is now over, with Sinner just missing out on a spot in the top 10 list for players with the most weeks spent as world number one.<\/p>\n

His recent 65-week spell places him 12th in the list, with men\u2019s legend Stefan Edberg also missing out in 11th.<\/p>\n

It is indeed Novak Djokovic who tops the pile, having spent a phenomenal 428 weeks as world number one.<\/p>\n

He is followed by fellow legend Roger Federer in second, while the iconic Pete Sampras occupies third place.<\/p>\n

Completing the top five are Ivan Lendl in fourth and Jimmy Connors in fifth, with Djokovic the only active player within the top 10.<\/p>\n
