{"id":215253,"date":"2025-09-10T10:26:18","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T10:26:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/215253\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T10:26:18","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T10:26:18","slug":"tottenham-face-competition-from-liverpool-and-newcastle-for-netherlands-international","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/215253\/","title":{"rendered":"Tottenham face competition from Liverpool and Newcastle for Netherlands international"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Tottenham Hotspur continue to eye a move for a Netherlands international in the January window, but they will face competition for the player from Newcastle United and Liverpool.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It has been reported over recent days that, following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spurs-web.com\/spurs-news\/who-is-daniel-levy-tottenham-hotspur-chairman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Levy\u2019s<\/a> exit, we are expected to see a change in Tottenham\u2019s transfer policy.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spurs-web.com\/spurs-news\/tottenham-set-to-change-transfer-policy-and-chase-elite-players-after-daniel-levy-exit\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spurs are expected to shop for \u2018elite\u2019 players in January<\/a> in order to compete for major honours, with a centre-back and a new attacking player at the top of the club\u2019s wishlist.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spurs-web.com\/spurs-news\/tottenham-battle-newcastle-for-43m-brighton-star-micky-van-de-ven-knows-him-well\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jan Paul van Hecke was on Tottenham\u2019s radar in the summer<\/a>, and the Lilywhites are continuing to keep their eye on the Brighton man, but their pursuit of the 25-year-old has just got a lot harder.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2231369758-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Everton v Brighton &amp; Hove Albion - Premier League\" \/>Photo by Ed Sykes\/Sportsphoto\/Allstar Via Getty ImagesLiverpool enter race with Tottenham to sign Jan Paul van Hecke<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.givemesport.com\/liverpool-transfer-news-eyeing-jan-paul-van-hecke-marc-guehi-alternative-anfield\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GiveMeSport<\/a> have claimed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spurs-web.com\/club-info\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> and Newcastle United are continuing to keep tabs on the Dutchman ahead of the January window.<\/p>\n<p>However, those two clubs have now been joined in the race for the Seagulls star by Liverpool, who have identified van Hecke as a potential alternative to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spurs-web.com\/tag\/marc-guehi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marc Guehi<\/a>, who they failed to sign on deadline day.<\/p>\n<p>The Reds have now expressed an interest in luring the Dutch defender away from the Amex Stadium when the transfer window reopens, while Newcastle also remain keen on bolstering their defensive options.<\/p>\n<p>Van Hecke\u2019s is waiting for a transfer approach<\/p>\n<p>GiveMeSport say that the centre-back had a price tag in the region of \u00a344m during the summer transfer window, and his current employers were determined to fight off suitors.<\/p>\n<p>However, Brighton\u2019s efforts to tie Van Hecke to a new contract have not proven successful, with the player aware that he is on the radar of top clubs and waiting to see if they substantiate the interest.<\/p>\n<p>The publication adds that there is now a growing expectation that the rumoured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spurs-web.com\/tag\/tottenham\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spurs<\/a> target will leave the South Coast club soon.<\/p>\n<p>       Have something to tell us about this article?
