Fire crews from Tempe and Phoenix responded to a house fire caused by an electric vehicle, resulting in significant damage.<\/p>\n
TEMPE, Ariz. \u2014 A home sustained heavy damage after a fire early Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
Crews from Tempe and Phoenix responded to a home near Baseline Road and 48th Street and found an electric vehicle and charging port engulfed in flames. The fire reportedly occurred around 1 a.m. and spread from the carport to the home.<\/p>\n
Tempe Fire said specialized tactics were used because of the vehicle\u2019s battery. A thermal imaging camera, Cold Cut Cobra, and targeted suppression strategies were used.<\/p>\n
Officials said a man, woman and dog escaped the home before the fire overtook the house. Authorities towed away the damaged vehicle, identified as a Volkswagen ID4, in case of any re-ignition incidents.<\/p>\n
No injuries were reported from the fire.<\/p>\n
The incident is under investigation.<\/p>\n
