<\/p>\nA prominent U.S. golf star and former Ryder Cup hero has announced that he is refusing to watch the 2025 event.<\/p>\n
The 2025 Ryder Cup is taking place later in September. The 2025 event, which pits America’s best against Europe’s best, will take place over three days later this month. The Ryder Cup, held in Farmingdale, New York, at the Bethpage Black Course, will run from September 26 through September 28.<\/p>\n

The U.S. and Europe announced their Ryder Cup teams earlier this summer. Europe has dominated the event as of late, winning eight of the past 11 tournaments. America, led by captain Keegan Bradley, will look to end Europe’s run of dominance later this month.<\/p>\n

Longtime U.S. golf star Patrick Reed, who missed out on making the 2025 team, announced that he will be refusing to watch the event this year.<\/p>\n
Reed, 35, has participated in multiple Ryder Cups, posting a career record of 7-3-2 over the years.<\/p>\n

He won’t be watching this year’s event<\/p>\n
Reed, speaking to Philip Lanigan of the\u00a0Irish Mail, said that he will not be watching the 2025 event.<\/p>\n
“I’ll definitely be rooting for the boys. But it’s one of those things that I don’t watch golf when I’m at home,” he told the outlet, according to\u00a0Golf WRX<\/a>. “Because I play so much. Because I’m always out practicing and grinding. If I start watching golf, I start turning the mindset on to analyze and to do all that.”<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Reed was disappointed to not make this year’s team, though he knew it was a longshot. He won a LIV Golf event in Dallas and finished in third place at the Masters and in a tie for 23rd at the U.S. Open.<\/p>\n “I mean, I was hoping. I knew it was going to be an outside shot just because of not being able to get points and things like that, just being on LIV,” Reed explained.<\/p>\n Reed ended up finishing in 46th place in the U.S. Ryder Cup points standings.
