{"id":215949,"date":"2025-09-10T16:37:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T16:37:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/215949\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T16:37:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T16:37:09","slug":"update-state-police-and-partner-agencies-investigate-theft-and-vehicle-pursuit-in-central-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/215949\/","title":{"rendered":"UPDATE: State Police and Partner Agencies Investigate Theft and Vehicle Pursuit in Central New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the investigation, the following individuals were charged by State Police:<\/p>\n<p><strong>2023 Hyundai Tucson<\/strong> \u2013 operator of abandoned\/stolen vehicle on State Route 291 town of Marcy<\/p>\n<p><strong>Male juvenile<\/strong>, age<strong> 17<\/strong>, from <strong>Utica, NY<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\">\n<li>Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree (D felony)\n<ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\">\n<li>Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree (E felony)<\/li>\n<li>Criminal Mischief 2nd degree (D felony)<\/li>\n<li>Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree (A misdemeanor)<\/li>\n<li>Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree (A misdemeanor)<\/li>\n<li>Reckless Driving (misdemeanor)<\/li>\n<li>Numerous traffic violations including speeding in a posted work zone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The juvenile was arraigned virtually via Onondaga Family Court and released from SP North Syracuse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Passenger:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Osman U. Borrow<\/strong>, age <strong>20<\/strong>, from <strong>Utica, NY<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree (D felony)<\/li>\n<li>Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree (E felony)<\/li>\n<li>Criminal Mischief 2nd degree (D felony)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Borrow<\/strong> was transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center to await CAP Court arraignment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Passenger:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Male juvenile<\/strong>, age <strong>18<\/strong>, from <strong>Utica, NY<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree (D felony)<\/li>\n<li>Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree (E felony)<\/li>\n<li>Criminal Mischief 2nd degree (D felony)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The juvenile was transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center to await CAP Court arraignment.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>2015 Honda Civic<\/strong> was confirmed stolen out of the city of Utica. While being pursued on the New York State Thruway (I-90), troopers observed the Honda enter the median, cross back over both lanes of travel, and collide with a tree.<\/p>\n<p>The sole occupant\/operator, a <strong>male juvenile<\/strong>, age <strong>18<\/strong>, from <strong>Utica, NY<\/strong>, was transported from the scene to Upstate Hospital by Greater Lenox Ambulance. After being released from the hospital, he was transported to SP North Syracuse for processing and charged:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree (D felony)<\/li>\n<li>Criminal Mischief 2nd degree (D felony)<\/li>\n<li>Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree (A misdemeanor)<\/li>\n<li>Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree (A misdemeanor)<\/li>\n<li>Reckless Driving (misdemeanor)<\/li>\n<li>Motor Vehicle License Violation: No License<\/li>\n<li>Failed to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle<\/li>\n<li>Speeding (including in a posted work zone)<\/li>\n<li>Moved from Lane Unsafely<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The juvenile was transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center to await CAP Court arraignment.<\/p>\n<p>____________________________________________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><strong>Original Press Release September 9, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The New York State Police, in coordination with the Syracuse Police Department, are investigating a theft and stolen vehicle incident that occurred around 11:00 a.m. at Macy\u2019s in Destiny USA Mall in Syracuse.<\/p>\n<p>A group of individuals, all dressed in black and gray clothing and wearing surgical masks, entered the store and stole men\u2019s merchandise. No weapons were displayed. The suspects fled in multiple vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Syracuse Police initially pursued two of the suspect vehicles before discontinuing the chase. A short time later, State Police located one of the vehicles and pursued it eastbound on the New York State Thruway (I-90) in the city of Oneida, where it crashed. The sole occupant sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p>Another suspect vehicle was later found near State Route 291 in the town of Marcy. Three suspects fled the vehicle on foot. A coordinated search by State Police, the Oneida County Sheriff\u2019s Office, New York State Park Police, New York Mills, Whitestown, Whitesboro, and Yorkville Police Departments, the Department of Environmental Conservation, and other partner agencies resulted in three suspects being taken into custody.
