SAN ANTONIO – A man is under arrest, accused of stalking someone in an unexpected position \u2014 the chief of police and his wife.<\/p>\n
According to the warrant issued for Roger Craig Vittitoe, Police Chief William McManus and his wife have never met the 29-year-old.<\/p>\n
But last week, he\u2019s accused of sending repeated voice and text messages to Mrs. McManus.<\/p>\n
Investigators say Vittitoe, who had previously been a complainant in another criminal case, sent more than two dozen unwanted messages to McManus\u2019 wife in less than 72 hours, demanding the chief respond to him and expressing anger over the outcome of that prior case.<\/p>\n
The messages are described as obsessive, harassing, and alarming, including a photo with a geolocation within 12 minutes of the chief\u2019s home.<\/p>\n
Examples of the messages included: <\/p>\n
\u201cHow\u2019s the female McManus…Had her on LinkedIn then account got deleted…we followed each other,\u201d \u201cMy favorite color is ReD!\u201d and \u201cWell, I gave you your 15-day Notice. A few more days left. Hope you make the right decision.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police described the tone as obsessive, harassing, and alarming.<\/p>\n
Chief McManus said in the affidavit that he feared for his family\u2019s safety.<\/p>\n
Vittitoe was identified through his registered phone number and personal details within the messages, which officers confirmed through law enforcement databases.<\/p>\n
