{"id":216260,"date":"2025-09-10T19:19:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T19:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/216260\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T19:19:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T19:19:12","slug":"nascar-informs-teams-of-possible-penalties-if-they-repeat-what-trackhouse-cars-did-at-gateway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/216260\/","title":{"rendered":"NASCAR informs teams of possible penalties if they repeat what Trackhouse cars did at Gateway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NASCAR informed teams in a memo Tuesday that the actions Trackhouse Racing drivers Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen took after last weekend\u2019s race could be subject to penalties, including disqualification, moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>Both playoff drivers turned their cars into the grass entering the access road in Turn 3 after taking the checkered flag in last weekend\u2019s Cup playoff race at World Wide Technology Raceway.<\/p>\n<p>Brad Moran, Cup Series managing director, said Tuesday morning on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that officials planned to talk to Trackhouse Racing officials about the incident.<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"Link\" aria-label=\"NASCAR to have conversation with Trackhouse about actions after Gateway race\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nascar\/news\/nascar-to-have-conversation-with-trackhouse-about-actions-after-gateway-race\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Image\" alt=\"NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out 400 - Practice\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1757531951_272_\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<p>NASCAR\u2019s Brad Moran told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that what Trackhouse\u2019s two playoff cars did after the race \u201ccaught our radar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NASCAR spokesperson Mike Forde stated on this week\u2019s <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/hauler-talk\/id1795918832\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u201cNASCAR Hauler Talk\u201d podcast<\/a>: \u201cWe did see what the 88 (van Gisbergen) and 1 (Chastain) were doing \u2026 and we did not care for it. Not one bit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Section 6.4.2.1.B of the Cup Rule Book states: \u201cAll vehicles are considered under impound from the moment they receive the checkered flag or the Race is declared complete due to adverse conditions. Vehicles must not be altered or adjusted in any manner during the cool-down lap or on pit road prior to reporting to the inspection area(s).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Forde said on the podcast that \u201cwe didn\u2019t think what Trackhouse did did went to the level (of a penalty). I think we\u2019re going to give them a little bit of a warning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The point of the note to teams, Forde said on the podcast, was so that teams are \u201caware that we are going to be looking at this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"Link\" aria-label=\"Bristol weekend schedule, TV, weather info for NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, Truck and ARCA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nascar\/news\/bristol-weekend-schedule-tv-weather-info-for-nascar-cup-xfinity-truck-and-arca-september-2025\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Image\" alt=\"nbc_nas_bristolplayoffspromo_250908.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1757531951_256_\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The playoffs are under way at the 0.533-mile oval for the top three national series.<\/p>\n<p>Forde also addressed on the podcast how numerous cars ran near the wall or on the apron after last weekend\u2019s Cup playoff race in an apparent attempt to pick up rubber to meet the minimum weight requirement in post-race inspection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs far as trying to pick up debris and things like that, that\u2019s going to be too difficult to police,\u201d Forde said on the podcast. \u201cThat\u2019s probably going to be a bridge too far for us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll look at it, but I think that\u2019s going to be something that we\u2019ll have to live with. But as far as pancaking the wall or running through grass \u2014 there\u2019s no grass at Bristol so this won\u2019t be a problem this weekend \u2014 that is going to be something that we\u2019ll frown upon in a significant way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat that way is is TBD, so whether that is going to be an in-race penalty or a (disqualification), that is going to be determined after the event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"Link\" aria-label=\"Good news, bad news for NASCAR Cup drivers ahead of Bristol playoff elimination race\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nascar\/news\/good-news-bad-news-for-nascar-cup-drivers-ahead-of-bristol-playoff-elimination-race\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Image\" alt=\"NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1757531952_744_\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kyle Larson goes for his third consecutive win at Bristol.<\/p>\n<p>Forde also said on the \u201cNASCAR Hauler Talk\u201d podcast that after the playoff opener at Darlington \u201cthere were a couple of (playoff) cars that were within a pound of almost failing and being (disqualified).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All remaining playoff cars are inspected after each playoff race. All 16 cars have been inspected after the first two races of the opening round and will be inspected after Saturday night\u2019s race at Bristol Motor Speedway.<\/p>\n<p>Four drivers will be eliminated from the playoffs at Bristol.
