Carney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/7\/30\/canada-will-recognise-palestinian-state-at-un-general-assembly-carney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced in July<\/a> that Canada would recognise Palestinian statehood, angering Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Trudeau was generally supportive of Israel\u2019s campaign against Hamas, while occasionally criticising the actions of the Israeli military.<\/p>\n<p>Carney on Tuesday condemned the Israeli air strike, calling it \u201can intolerable expansion of violence\u201d that risked escalating conflict throughout the region.<\/p>\n<p>He said last month that Israel\u2019s plan to take control of Gaza City was \u201cwrong\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The country previously said it would recognise Palestinian statehood this month.
