Charlie Kirk<\/a>\u2018s killer is at large \u2014 with cops and the FBI launching a massive manhunt after the MAGA leading light was assassinated at\u00a0Utah Valley University<\/a> in Orem on Wednesday afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Early reports indicated that a suspect was in custody \u2013 but police later rolled back those claims and confirmed the shooter was still on the loose.<\/p>\n

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot in the neck around after 12:20 p.m. local time Wednesday as he was speaking on campus south of Salt Lake City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A long gun believed to be used in the assassination was recovered on the campus, with the shooter of shooting Kirk with a single shot from an elevated position about 200 yard away, law enforcement sources told The Post.<\/p>\n

Those details suggest the killing<\/a> was a calculated and deliberate plot.<\/p>\n

Police also dismissed video circulating online showing an older man being hauled away by police on Utah Valley\u2019s campus Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The man in the clip apparently told police he had shot Kirk, but law enforcement later confirmed he is not a suspect.<\/p>\n

Kirk was rushed to a nearby hospital after the shooting and taken into surgery in critical condition, but later succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n

Horrifying footage from the event \u2013 where Kirk was debating with attendees opposed to his conservative opinions \u2013 showed a single gunshot ring out as he recoiled from the hit.<\/p>\n

He had just been asked a question about transgender mass shooters<\/a> when the bullet was fired.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kirk has often been credited for galvanizing young Republican\u00a0voters through his immensely popular conservative group, Turning Point USA, which focused on traveling to college campuses to promote its values.<\/p>\n

Utah Valley University\u2019s campus has been placed on lockdown as law enforcement continues combing the buildings room by room, a spokesperson confirmed to the New York Times.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no suspect in custody, it is an active investigation,\u201d the school told the outlet.<\/p>\n
