SAN ANTONIO \u2014 A late-night Lyft ride nearly turned deadly for a San Antonio driver who says bullets tore through his windshield in a terrifying ambush early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
Naazir Hinojosa was behind the wheel around 1 a.m. when he accepted a ride request near the John F. Kennedy Pool & Park on Southwest 28th Street. But when he arrived, he received a message from the rider saying he was in the wrong location.<\/p>\n
Hinojosa continued driving when, he says, he was approached by three men. One of them, he recalled, was wearing a black mask and carrying a rifle.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy turning to my left I noticed the gun was pointed at my head,\u201d Hinojosa said. \u201cThe first shot just ran right through my window, went straight into my windshield went past my face. Immediately, just gunshots coming through the window, bouncing off the car, it was traumatic.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hinojosa says one of the men tried to open his door. That\u2019s when he hit the gas and sped off.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce I noticed that and noticed that the first individual was reaching for my door, then I immediately just stepped on the gas and took off.\u201d<\/p>\n
As he fled, bullets peppered his car. He swerved left and right in an attempt to dodge gunfire and break the suspects\u2019 line of sight.<\/p>\n
Despite the hail of gunfire, Hinojosa managed to drive himself to Baptist Neighborhood Hospital. He was not shot but was treated for injuries caused by shrapnel.<\/p>\n
Police say a second victim \u2014 a 17-year-old boy \u2014 also arrived at the hospital shortly afterward. That teen told officers someone had pointed a gun at him and demanded his CashApp. He gave a similar description of one of the suspects involved in Hinojosa\u2019s attack.<\/p>\n
Investigators have not confirmed whether they are directly connected. As of Monday, no arrests had been made.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am struggling right now, driving at night,\u201d Hinojosa said.<\/p>\n
