{"id":21691,"date":"2025-06-28T11:39:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-28T11:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/21691\/"},"modified":"2025-06-28T11:39:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-28T11:39:09","slug":"former-oculus-execs-are-jumping-back-into-wearables-with-sesame-smart-glasses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/21691\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Oculus Execs Are Jumping Back into Wearables with Sesame Smart Glasses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oculus co-founder Nate Mitchell announced he\u2019s joining former CEO Brendan Iribe and hardware architect Ryan Brown at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sesame.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sesame<\/a>, the smart glasses startup that exited stealth earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell announced in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:7343719890492538882\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">LinkedIn <\/a>post that he\u2019s joining Sesame as Chief Product Officer, noting his mission is to \u201chelp bring computers to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting the band back together with Brendan Iribe, Ryan Brown, and many of the original Oculus crew. Building the future together again,\u201d Mitchell says in the post.<\/p>\n<p>Sesame is currently working on an AI assistant along with a pair of lightweight smart glasses, which the company says is \u201c[d]esigned to be worn all day, giving you high-quality audio and convenient access to your companion who can observe the world alongside you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/nate-mitchell-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy lazy-hidden size-full wp-image-66213\" data-lazy-type=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/nate-mitchell-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\"  \/><\/a>Nate Mitchell on stage at Oculus Connect 2 | Image courtesy Oculus<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell, who co-founded Oculus along with\u00a0Palmer Luckey, Brendan Iribe, and Michael Antonov in 2012, served as VP of Product for a number of years, later leading Rift and Meta\u2019s (ex-Facebook\u2019s) broader VR product strategy. Mitchell\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadtovr.com\/oculus-co-founder-nate-mitchell-leaves-facebook\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">departed the company in 2019<\/a> as the last remaining founder.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Mitchell announced he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadtovr.com\/oculus-co-founders-new-game-studio-isnt-focusing-vr-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">founding Mountaintop Studios<\/a> and leading the company as CEO.
