(KCTV) &#8211; The owner of a Kansas City, Kansas restaurant is having a pinch-me moment after it made the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2025\/dining\/best-restaurants-america.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2025\/dining\/best-restaurants-america.html\">New York Times list for the top 50 best restaurants<\/a> in the country. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-start article-text\">The star of the show? &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcturkeyleggman.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcturkeyleggman.com\/\">The Turkey Leggman<\/a> near Quindaro Blvd. and 18th Street. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The restaurant was the only one chosen out of all of Kansas and the owner said he\u2019s on cloud-9. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cConstantly have to pitch myself, I don\u2019t have words,\u201d said Mathew Montgomery, the owner of the restaurant. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-start article-text\">\u201cThat\u2019s a great accomplishment for Quindaro and then for the Turkey Leggman,\u201d said Gary Wilson, the owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilsonspizzaandgrill.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wilsonspizzaandgrill.com\/\">Wilson\u2019s Pizza<\/a> down the road. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Montgomery is still in shock after the publication named his BBQ joint one of the top 50 best restaurants in the country. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cOh my god, so amazing, very humble, honestly, to tell you the truth, I hung up on them. I thought it was a scam,\u201d explained Montgomery. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">But it was no scam. He wanted our number one seller; it\u2019s called the Bust Down. It\u2019s a turkey leg stuffed with 4 cheese macaroni,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">That\u2019s not all they have sizzling on the grill; they also serve up turkey ribs, turkey wings, burnt ends, turkey nachos, and turkey-loaded fries. They even have freshly squeezed juice, like watermelon juice. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">So, what\u2019s the secret to a nationally recognized turkey leg? <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cJust the love we put into it and our secret little sauce that no one knows, you got to be blood, got to be in our blood line,\u201d said Montgomery. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Montgomery shared that his journey hasn\u2019t been easy. Starting off his business with a borrowed $25 grill, he\u2019s now being given one of the greatest honors. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">After all the blood, sweat, and tears, all the late nights,\u201d he said, \u201cto see it, just be recognized, it feels so good.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">An honor like this doesn\u2019t just elevate the restaurant; it puts an entire neighborhood on the map. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI enjoy having light on the area, and I think if we keep getting this kind of publicity, then we\u2019re going to get more businesses up here and more people are going to come visit the area,\u201d said Wilson. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Montgomery said the calls and orders keep flowing in, and he\u2019s feeling blessed. <\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 KCTV.
