SAN ANTONIO, Tx \u2014 A mother is demanding answers from San Antonio ISD after her 6-year-old daughter was sent home on a school bus she was never supposed to be on.<\/p>\n
Amber Phyllis-Rodriguez says her heart dropped Wednesday when she arrived at Sarah King Elementary to pick up her daughter only to learn she was not on campus.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer teacher came out and said, mom Aniah has already been placed on the bus,\u201d Phyllis-Rodriguez said. \u201cI was like what do you mean the bus?\u201d<\/p>\n
Phyllis-Rodriguez immediately began to panic because her 6-year-old daughter had never ridden the bus before. When she informed the front office of their mistake, she said they handed her a bus route.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe goes if you leave right now maybe you can catch her,\u201d Phyllis-Rodgriguez said.<\/p>\n
The mother caught up with her daughter just as she was getting off the bus at their apartment complex.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe bus driver said I\u2019ve never seen her before,\u201d Phyllis-Rodriguez said. \u201cMy daughter was crying. She was freaking out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Phyllis-Rodriguez said she tried speaking to the school principal and San Antonio ISD leaders, but no one has called her back.<\/p>\n
San Antonio ISD gave the following statement:<\/p>\n
We prioritize the safety and well-being of our students. To enhance this commitment, we are currently reviewing our internal processes. In this instance, the parent inadvertently selected the option for transportation during registration. We are investigating how this miscommunication occurred to prevent similar situations in the future.
