Fort Worth Democrat Councilwoman Elizabeth Beck is under fire for an Instagram story posted shortly after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, The Dallas Express first reported on its X account, citing CEO Chris Putnam\u2019s post.<\/p>\n
As previously reported by The Dallas Express,<\/a> Kirk was shot and killed during a Q&A session with students at Utah Valley University, the first stop of his \u201cAmerican Comeback Tour.\u201d The 31-year-old leader was a married father of two.<\/p>\n Shortly after the attack, Beck posted a screenshot of a Newsweek headline quoting Kirk as saying gun deaths were \u201cunfortunately\u201d worth it to keep the Second Amendment. She overlaid Kirk\u2019s photo with her own caption: \u201cUnfortunate.\u201d The now-deleted post has triggered outrage across the Metroplex.<\/p>\n \u201cShe is publicly celebrating the death of a young husband and father of two young children,\u201d Tarrant County GOP Chairman Bo French said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cAt a minimum, the Tarrant County Republican Party calls for her to be REMOVED from the City Council immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n Fort Worth residents also voiced disgust. \u201cElizabeth Beck should resign immediately,\u201d Kenya Alu told The Dallas Express. \u201cCharlie had a wife and two young children. To post something like that is disgusting. She is unfit for public office.\u201d<\/p>\n True Texas Project CEO Julie McCarty questioned Beck\u2019s intent. \u201cWhat exactly is Ms. Beck\u2019s goal here? To encourage more of the same? To pour salt on the wounds of hurting neighbors? To score points with people who think like her for the next election? None of those reasons are good enough. She needs to be removed. She is unfit for public office,\u201d McCarty told The Dallas Express.<\/p>\n
