\n\tAs Saturday Night Live<\/a> shakes things up with its cast going into Season 51, Bowen Yang<\/a> will miss one co-star in particular.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 5x Emmy nominee recently paid tribute to Heidi Gardner<\/a> as \u201ca true anchor on that show\u201d after her departure was announced<\/a> last month, following eight seasons on the NBC<\/a> sketch comedy series.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou are one of the greats. You will go down in history,\u201d he said on his Las Culturistas<\/a> podcast, explaining that she was a trusted sketch writer on the show.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s always a very, very vulnerable thing as a cast member to put only your name on it,\u201d added Yang. \u201cBut anytime you saw just \u2018Gardner,\u2019 you knew you were in good hands. She would take it upon herself to write pieces for other cast.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRecalling a \u2018Weekend Update\u2019 sketch she wrote for former cast member Punkie Johnson, Yang said it \u201cwas one of the most beautiful, kindest gestures I\u2019ve ever seen at that show, and her heart was so big, and clearly so f***ing funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tYang also credited Gardner with getting the cast through the COVID-19 pandemic, suggesting they \u201cjust each text each other every day, something that made us smile today,\u201d calling her \u201cjust a truly beautiful person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe comments come after the exits of cast members<\/a> Devon Walker, Emil Wakim and Michael Longfellow were announced, as well as writers Rosebud Baker and Celeste Yim.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShout out Devon, Emil, Michael Longfellow,\u201d added Yang. \u201cThey were fantastic comedians going in. They are fantastic comedians coming out. Those are some A+ gems.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter Yang was confirmed to return<\/a> to the show for his seventh season, \u201cI am thrilled to go back. I will miss the people who are not coming back very, very much.<\/p>\n
