The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13. Councilmember Jamie Gauthier, who worked on the 47th Street redesign project with community members and organizations, is expected to participate in the event as well.<\/p>\n<p>The ride is expected to begin at 9:20 a.m. and the approximately 4-mile long route will include the 47th, 48th, Walnut and Chestnut bike lanes. If you want to join in, RSVP <a href=\"https:\/\/bikeaction.org\/events\/west-philly-tour-de-bike-lane-ride\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>47th Street between Chestnut and Kingsessing was redesigned after a series of community meetings and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westphillylocal.com\/2025\/08\/13\/work-begins-to-convert-south-47th-street-to-one-way-street\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">turned into a northbound one-way street last month<\/a> as part of the 47th Street Repaving and Traffic Safety project. The parking-protected southbound bike lane, which runs against traffic, was also installed as part of this project (see photo).
