NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. \u2014 Just a day after Charlie Kirk was assassinated, crowds gathered at Jarboe Park in Neptune Beach to remember his life and legacy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had to do something,\u201d said Jacksonville Councilmember Rory Diamond (R-District 13). \u201cWe couldn\u2019t just sit at our homes and cry at home.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was a respectful man. He engaged in civil discourse.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe reached out to so many millions of young folks,\u201d said Charles Barr, Chairman of the Republican Party of Duval County. \u201cTalked about freedoms. Talked about the constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n Kirk was in a familiar setting on Wednesday before a large crowd at a university in Utah<\/b><\/a> when he was shot and later died.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no really words for it,\u201d said Diamond.<\/p>\n Local law enforcement was present at Thursday\u2019s candlelight vigil, and all those who came out not only healed together but took a unified stance.<\/p>\n \u201cThis violence has got to stop,\u201d said Barr. \u201cThis country was formed on political views. There were arguments a couple hundred years ago when they wrote the Constitution.
